Alajuela Costa Rica
Alajuela is Costa Rica’s second largest city in terms of size. Alajuela has the reputation of having a good climate, with regard to other provinces located in the central valley. It lies just a few minutes away from San Jose's only International Airport. With easy access and plenty of bus routes, getting in and out of Alajuela is not a problem and it is the perfect place to start any road trip to the Guanacaste beaches and northern areas of Costa Rica.
In the center of Alajuela is a huge impressive red dome church that is a few minutes away from the Parque Central. This park is lush and green, and is the ideal place to hang out and mingle with the locals, who often come here in the afternoons. West of the park is Alajuela’s central market, which takes up an entire city block and is a great place to shop. Another tourist attraction in this city is the Juan Santamaria Cultural Historical Museum, Zoo Ave, the Butterfly Farm and the Poas Volcano, which lie just outside of town.
